About Us

Mission Statement

Timberlake Baptist Church provides a redemptive fellowship of growing believers who reveal the gospel of Jesus Christ through worship, organizations, ministries, and loving nurture.

A Brief History

On October 26, 1988, a group of people met for the purpose of beginning a new work in the Waccamaw Baptist Association.  Timberlake had its first Sunday morning service in an office building on October 30, 1988, with 59 present.

Mission work and mission organizations have played an important role in Timberlake since the very beginning.  Mission Friends, Girls in Action, Royal Ambassadors, and Acteens were formed and began meeting January, 1989, followed by Baptist Women and Brotherhood.

Timberlake Baptist Church was officially chartered on December 8, 1989.  God continued to bless Timberlake, and it was not very long before the church was growing again.  Plans were made to construct a building on 10.5 acres of land on Highway 707.  This land was given to the church by Rev. and Mrs. Maxie Collins.  Groundbreaking for that building was held on September 13, 1992.  A dedication service was held on July 11, 1993.

The church continued to grow, and in the year 2000, plans began for another building to help meet the needs of a growing church and community.  The church prayed, planned, and voted to take another bold step of faith to build the Christian Life Center.  A groundbreaking service was held on January 20, 2002, and construction started on March 20, 2002.  We dedicated the CLC during our Homecoming/Anniversary Celebration on October 26, 2003.

Renovations to our original sanctuary was the next project to be completed.  Thanks to so many gifted people in this Body of Christ, Timberlake was able to renovate the santuary in a timely and cost effective manner.  We moved into our newly renovated sanctuary on January 7, 2007.

Our goal in 2009 is to complete the upstairs portion of the Christian Life Center.  This space will give us more room to continue to grow this part of the Body of Christ and continue to provide space for the growing community around us.  The history of Timberlake is great and the future can be even greater as we all pray and work together.

Timberlake is more than buildings, committees, and programs.  Timberlake is a growing fellowship of believers who reveal the love of God through worship, organizations, ministry and a loving nurture.

Timberlake is about building up the Body of Christ!
